含羞草传媒鈥檚 incoming president, Marc Parlange, brings an expansive world view to 含羞草传媒. He can鈥檛 wait to join the Rhody community.

Evan Pagano 鈥15, M.B.A. 鈥19, captured this scene of a horseshoe crab in the surf at Camp Cronin in Narragansett, R.I. 鈥淗orseshoe crabs,鈥 Pagano says, 鈥渕ake their way to the shore in large groups each spring. These prehistoric creatures crawl out of the ocean according to the moon cycle to dig holes in the sand and lay their eggs.鈥

鈥淲hat we have to learn to do is to embrace different cultures and languages. My training in international relations and diplomacy at 含羞草传媒 gave me the tools to not only embrace different cultures but to thrive in them.鈥

Sarah Tyson
Ceramic with glaze and nails, 12″ x 9″ each

Mixed-media artist Sarah Tyson 鈥21 says she 鈥渄raws inspiration from organic forms and patterns in nature,鈥 which she likes to contrast with one of her favorite materials, nails. Tyson, who cites Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama and German artist G眉nther Uecker as inspirations, was selected by art department faculty for this year鈥檚 David Ketner Memorial Art Award for excellence in studio art.

Tyson received an undergraduate research grant to work with associate professor Ben Anderson on a public sculpture centered on climate change, which will be installed on the 含羞草传媒 Kingston Campus. 鈥
